Former K&H Group CEO Hendrik Scheerlinck receives lifetime achievement award

The Presidium of the Hungarian Bankers’ Association gave a lifetime achievement award to Hendrik Scheerlinck, former CEO of K&H Group, current CFO of KBC Group and member of KBC Group’s Executive Committee. Mr. Scheerlinck received the accolade in recognition of his outstanding professional work as Member of the Board of the Hungarian Banking Association, his valuable work as President of the Foreign Banker’s Club, and his professional contributions to the development of the banking sector.

Yesterday, the Presidium of the Hungarian Banking Association gave a Golden Beehive lifetime achievement award to Hendrik Scheerlinck, former CEO of K&H Group, current CFO of KBC Group and member of KBC Group’s Executive Committee. These awards have been handed out since 2012 to exemplary bankers and bank advocacy officials in recognition of extraordinary individual performance promoting the operation and development of Hungary’s credit institutions sector. Mr. Scheerlinck received the lifetime achievement award in recognition of his outstanding professional work as Member of the Board of the Hungarian Banking Association, his valuable work as President of the Foreign Banker’s Club, and his professional contributions to the development of the banking sector.
 
“Rik will be remembered for his utmost dedication and remarkable contributions to the growth of K&H as well as the development of the Hungarian banking sector. His work in his present position is characterised by the same drive to make things better, and an equally solid intent to achieve nothing less than excellence” – said current K&H CEO David Moucheron after the awarding ceremony.

Hendrik Scheerlinck’s outstanding work had already been acknowledged in Hungary; he had been MasterCard’s Banker of the Year in 2014 and 2012. This award is based on votes by CEOs of financial institutions active in Hungary.  

Hendrik Scheerlinck studied law and economics in Belgium. He started his career with KBC in International Credits in Brussels in 1984, and then went on to various positions in the United States, Taiwan and Germany. He joined the group’s Czech subsidiary in the second half of 2006 as head of finance and risk management, and as member of the Executive Committee. He was nominated CEO of K&H Group in 2010, and stayed in that position for seven years, until April 2017. From 2011 until his departure from the country, he was on the Presidium of the Hungarian Banking Association, and was chairman of the Foreign Bankers’ Club from 2010.
